For sailing in the Southern Adriatic, ideal departure points are marinas located south of Primošten and Rogoznica. These marinas are also well suited for sailors heading toward the islands of Vis, Hvar, or Šolta.For routes extending further south—to Korčula, Lastovo, Mljet, or as far as Dubrovnik—it is more practical and time-efficient to choose a starting point between Trogir and Split, or even further south, such as Makarska, Baška Voda, Slano, or Dubrovnik.
The Southern Adriatic is especially appealing due to its warmer conditions in early spring and late autumn, as well as generally more stable weather compared to the northern regions. However, sailing in this area requires more careful planning, as distances between islands are greater, making it harder to seek shelter during sudden weather changes. The sea is also more open, which is why a slightly larger vessel is recommended for a comfortable and safe sailing experience.
